Registering a new domain

A good domain is short, easy to spell and clearly connected to your brand. Registering one with YallowHost keeps it alongside your hosting, invoices and support in one account.

Search for a name

Enter the name you want on the domain search. Each result shows a badge and pricing:

• Available: the name appears to be free, and you can add it to your cart.
• Taken: the name appears to be registered already.
• Check at checkout: we could not determine availability in advance.

The search is an initial check, not a final reservation. Registration is confirmed when the order is processed, so if a name is registered by someone else in the meantime, our team will contact you. Results also show the first-year price and the renewal price, so you know what later years will cost.

Configure the domain

In your cart, choose Configure next to the domain.

1. Registration period: choose how many years to register for. Only the periods the extension supports are accepted.
2. ID protection / WHOIS privacy: where the extension supports it, switch this on to keep your personal contact details out of public WHOIS results. The price, or "Free" where it applies, is shown next to the option.
3. Nameservers: leave these blank to use our default nameservers, or enter up to four nameservers if you already know where the domain's DNS will be hosted.

Choose Save & review cart, then check out and pay the invoice as usual.

Registration status

After payment, the domain appears under Domains in your account. It may show Pending or Pending registration while it is registered, then Active. Once it is active, the domain page shows the registrar, registration term, registration and expiry dates, WHOIS privacy status and renewal price.

Choosing a strong name

• Avoid hyphens and doubled letters that are easy to mistype.
• Say it out loud: if you need to spell it for people, consider a simpler option.
• Check that the name does not use someone else's trademark.
• Consider registering common variations or other extensions to protect your brand.

Registration details come from your account profile, so make sure your name, address and email are current before you order.
