Setting up email on your devices
Updated Sep 15, 2026Every active mailbox can be used in a web browser through webmail or added to the email app you already use. The details you need are on the mailbox page in your account.
Find your mailbox settings
Open Email, then select the mailbox. The page shows:
- Mailbox credentials: the email address, username and webmail address, each with a copy button.
- Password, hidden until you choose Reveal. Reveals are limited and recorded for security, so copy the password into your email app or password manager rather than revealing it repeatedly.
- Connection settings: the incoming (IMAP or POP3) and outgoing (SMTP) server names, ports and the encryption to use.
Always use the exact values shown for your mailbox, because they are the settings that match your account. If connection settings are not listed yet, choose Request setup help and our team will add them. The rest of this guide explains what the values mean.
IMAP or POP3?
- IMAP keeps mail on the server and syncs it across all your devices, including folders and read status. Choose IMAP if you use more than one device.
- POP3 downloads mail to one device and is mainly useful for a single computer that archives mail locally.
Adding the account to an app
- In your app, choose to add an account and select the manual, advanced or other setup option.
- Enter your full email address and the password from your mailbox page.
- For incoming mail, choose IMAP and enter the IMAP server and port with SSL/TLS encryption as shown.
- For outgoing mail, enter the SMTP server and port and switch on authentication, using the same username and password.
- Save, then send a test message to another address and reply to it.
Most apps, including Outlook, Apple Mail, Thunderbird and the built-in apps on iPhone and Android, follow these steps with slightly different labels.
Troubleshooting
- Password rejected: check that the username is the full email address if the page shows it that way, and that no spaces were copied.
- Can receive but not send: SMTP authentication is usually switched off, or the port and encryption do not match.
- Nothing arrives at all: the domain's MX records may not point to the mail service yet.
- Webmail works but your app does not: the account itself is fine, so recheck the app's server settings.
Still stuck? From the mailbox page, choose Request setup help and tell us which app and device you are using.
