Storing and sharing files with the Files area

Files is secure storage inside your YallowHost account. Use it to keep documents, send website archives to our team, and share files with other people through controlled links. It is separate from the web space of a hosting account, so files stored here are not published on your website.

Storage and uploads

Every account includes a small amount of free storage, and the Files page shows how much you are using. If you need more, choose Upgrade storage, add a storage package to your cart and check out as normal. Extra storage becomes available as soon as its invoice is paid.

When you upload, first tell us what you are uploading:

• Archive files only: documents, images or a zip. Accepted formats include PDF, TXT, CSV, LOG, JPG, PNG, GIF, WebP, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and ZIP.
• Upload website/app: the website or application must be packaged as a single .zip archive.

Each file can be up to 50 MB. Executable and script files, such as PHP, JavaScript, HTML, shell scripts and programs, are rejected, including files that hide a second extension. Zip archives are also checked for unsafe structures before they are accepted.

Creating a share link

1. Choose Share next to the file.
2. Optionally set a Password, an expiry in days and a maximum number of downloads.
3. Choose Create link and copy the link straight away. It is shown only once.

The Shared links page lists every link with its status: active, expired, limit reached or revoked. Choose Revoke to stop a link working at any time. For anything confidential, use a password and share it through a different channel from the link itself.

Sending us files from a cloud drive

If a file is too large to upload, choose Submit a transfer link. Pick the provider (Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox, WeTransfer or a direct HTTPS link), paste the share link, add the link password if there is one, and include a short note. Our team retrieves the files and the request moves from pending to retrieved.

Removing files

Choosing Delete archives a file so it no longer appears in your file list. Uploads, downloads and removals are recorded for security.
